AGENDA:
Strengthening the Rights and Cultural Preservation of Indigenous Women and Communities .
ABOUT
THE
COMMITTEE
The UNCSW is the principal global body dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women. It sets international standards, formulates policies, and monitors progress on women's rights issues worldwide.
Indigenous women face unique challenges at the intersection of gender discrimination and cultural preservation. This agenda addresses strengthening their rights, including land rights, protection from violence, political representation, and cultural continuity. Delegates will debate legal recognition of customary land tenure, protection of traditional knowledge, preventing forced assimilation, and ensuring indigenous women's leadership in governance.
